The Photomixers are a crew of infared heterodyne spectroscopists who study the composition, conditions and dynamics of planetary atmospheres from Mauna Kea in Hawaii.

In their spare time they have produced five parodies of pop songs with a scientific bent, four of which are featured here.

 

Bulee "Slim" Gaillard was an American jazz singer and songwriter, noted for his comedic vocalese singing and word play in his own constructed language called "Vout-O-Reenee", for which he wrote a dictionary.

In the autumn of 1989, the BBC aired as part of their "Arena" art series a four-part documentary on Slim entitled Slim Gaillard's Civilisation, which is featured here.
